The Revelation is at-hand!

Why Mount Sinai? When it comes to mountains, Mount Sinai is as famous as it gets. The question arises as to why God chose Mount Sinai in the first place. There are certainly plenty of mountains in this world that God could have selected for this special moment for the Jewish people. The Midrash in Tehillim (Psalms) 68:9 teaches that all of the mountains tried to convince God why they should to be chosen as the place where Moshe was to receive the Ten Commandments. Only one mountain, Mount Sinai, remained quiet. Mount Sinai thought, “Why should God choose me? I am the smallest of the mountains and I have never done anything great at all.” God decided to choose Mount Sinai as it was the smallest and most humble of all the mountains.

Cheesecake Nail ArtWhy cheesecake? There is a delicious custom to eat dairy products on Shavuot. A common explanation as to why we eat dairy foods on Shavuot is that when Bnai Yisrael received the Torah, they learned about the distinction between Kosher and non-Kosher animals. When they returned to their tribal encampment after receiving the Torah, Bnai Yisrael realized that they could not eat the meat that they had prepared since it was no longer considered to be Kosher. Bnai Yisrael decided to have a dairy meal, just to be on the safe side.

Last year, Midrash Manicures launched water-based nail decals themed for Shavuot. Midrash Manicures fans were able to sport the Ten Commandments, cheesecake, and Mount Sinai on their fingernails! We have now switched over to new sticker technology for our High Holidays, Hanukkah and Passover nail decals.
